TEENAGERS
Adolescence is a period of intense physical and psychological development, accompanied by hormonal changes, rapid growth, identity formation and increased demands from the environment. The adolescent body is structured differently and reacts to stimuli, stress and exertion than the body of a child or adult. During this phase, numerous problems can occur, such as growing pains, tension, poor posture, sports injuries, headaches or problems with concentration and mood.
Osteopathy for adolescents involves specific, tailored techniques aimed at supporting functional and emotional changes during this sensitive period. Treatment always begins with an individual assessment and is based on an understanding of the different developmental stages of adolescence. During puberty, needs and risks often change rapidly – so it is essential to know which osteopathic intervention is appropriate, when to apply it and how to carry it out safely.
An experienced osteopath can recognize "normal" changes in growth, as well as potential problems that can disrupt daily functioning, school and sports activities, or emotional health. Only in this way can treatment be effective, gentle, and positive for the development of young people.
Where osteopathy can help adolescents:
-
growing pains in muscles, joints and bones
-
postural problems and poor posture (e.g. scoliosis, kyphosis)
-
sports injuries and overexertion
-
headaches, migraines, jaw tension (bruxism)
-
chronic fatigue, sleep disorders
-
reduced concentration, poor memory, emotional challenges
-
breathing problems (asthma, chronic rhinitis)
-
general support for hormonal and physical changes
Important note for parents and adolescents
All treatments are individually tailored to the developmental level and needs of the young person. A qualified osteopath with experience with adolescents can identify potential deviations in a timely manner, prevent complications, and support the young person in all aspects of development — physical, emotional, and social.
My personal professional contribution
In my work and education, I have dedicated special attention to adolescents and have empirically and scientifically encompassed their challenges and needs through my master's thesis, in order to support adolescents in the best possible way, taking into account all the complexity of development at that age.
