Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral for osteopathic treatment?

In Croatia, osteopathy is currently not regulated as a separate medical practice and is provided as a complementary health service. A doctor's referral is not necessarily required for treatment by a qualified osteopath.

Jeli osteopatski tretman bolan?

Osteopathic techniques are generally gentle and do not cause pain. During the treatment, you may feel a slight pressure, stretching or warmth, but most clients find the procedure pleasant. In rare cases, temporary discomfort or fatigue may occur after the treatment.

What can I do myself to ensure optimal treatment outcomes?

For best results, it is advisable to follow the osteopath's recommendations, which may include moderate physical activity, proper hydration, changes in posture and ergonomics, and the implementation of gentle self-exercises. Open communication and reporting any new health changes to the osteopath also contribute to a better outcome of therapy.

Are there any special treatments for babies, pregnant women or the elderly?

Babies are treated with particularly gentle and safe techniques, without any pain, in the position that suits them best, often while they are in the arms of their parents or in the arms of an osteopath.

Pregnant women are approached with great attention to comfort, without pressure on the abdomen and with techniques that further facilitate movement and circulation.

Elderly people are treated according to their physical condition, without sudden movements; the priority is safety, mobility and gentle relief of the body.

For all these groups, it is important that the procedure is explained in advance, and each phase of treatment takes place in full consultation with the osteopath.

Can I use osteopathy with other medical or physiotherapy treatments?

Yes, osteopathy often complements other forms of medical and physical therapy. Transparency with all therapists is recommended to avoid unwanted interactions or contradictions in treatments.

How does payment work and what if I need to cancel an appointment?

Payment is made immediately after the treatment in cash and prices are transparently displayed and defined according to the price list. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise a fee will be charged for the missed appointment, except in the case of justified exceptional circumstances.

Each appointment is reserved exclusively for you and it is not possible to find a replacement so quickly if the appointment is canceled at the last minute.

Timely cancellation notice shows respect for my time, as well as yours, and allows me to offer the available spot to someone on the waiting list.

What problems can be treated?

Osteopathic therapy is used for a wide range of functional and postural disorders, including:

  • for musculoskeletal pain (back, neck, joints, shoulders, tension pain)

  • for headaches, migraines, dizziness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus)

  • for posture disorders, jaw problems (e.g. teeth grinding or pain after dental procedures)

  • for breathing restrictions, asthma, recurring respiratory infections, allergies

  • for digestive problems (bloating, constipation, reflux)

  • for menstrual irregularities, painful menstruation, pregnancy pain, postpartum support

  • for sleep disorders, chronic fatigue and stress

  • for problems after surgeries or injuries (scars, movement restrictions, sports injuries)

  • for support for children with neurological disorders, children at neurorisk, children with developmental challenges and babies after difficult births

Osteopathy never replaces medical diagnostics and therapy, but rather complements medical and physiotherapy care – especially for chronic disorders, where a team and multidisciplinary approach is necessary. For serious, acute and inflammatory diseases, it is mandatory to consult a doctor first.

The goal of osteopathy is to restore balance and support to the body, in order to improve quality of life, mobility, sense of well-being and overall vitality.

How long does the treatment usually last and how many are needed?

I plan each appointment in my practice individually, and the time is reserved just for you and usually lasts 45–50 minutes. This flexible and personalized approach brings numerous advantages for you as a patient: every minute of the meeting is used optimally, without unnecessary delays, and you are always the center of attention. I want you to feel safe, understood, and supported throughout the entire process.

The number of visits required varies depending on the complexity of the problem. For simpler conditions, the first positive changes can be felt after just two to four treatments, while more complex or long-term problems require more patience and dedication.

My 26 years of experience as an osteopath, multiple master's degrees, numerous additional educations, and work in emergency medical services allow me, for your benefit, to quickly notice what is crucial for your health.
